DHL, the largest 3PL company in the world, has been investing in wearable technology since 2014 for use in distribution, maintenance, and delivery. In this presentation by George Bowser, we learn the reasoning behind DHL’s strong belief that wearables (and AR) are going to be a game-changer in the distribution environment, as the company – with help from Ubimax – prepares to roll out smart glasses plus ring scanners for vision picking to about half a dozen operations this summer.
George also talks about possible future applications for wearable tech in logistics, and – interestingly – the idea of adopting wearables as a differentiator, to separate DHL from the competition.
