The first AWE Online wrapped up last week and a number of sponsor and exhibiting companies used the digital event to make major announcements. Here are all the enterprise-related news and releases from the show:
Qualcomm partnered with 15 global operators to make XR a part of their 5G offerings within the next year. XR viewers – glasses tethered to a 5G-enabled smartphone via USB-C cable – will unlock a new generation of immersive experiences over 5G. For example, “Workplace meetings can be revolutionized through holographic telepresence with virtual collaboration platforms.” The company also announced a new 5G-enabled VR headset, the MOVA by XRSPACE.
Unity announced that their Mixed and Augmented Reality Studio (MARS) tools will be available starting today, June 1. Under construction for a few years now, these tools will make cross-platform development of robust AR projects easier.
Cognitive3D launched Objectives System, a new feature to help enterprises directly measure results and thereby get actionable insights from VR. With a few clicks, managers can “define steps required for users to be successful in the experience” (think VR training).
OVR
OVR Technology released its Architecture of Scent platform for VR. Combining hardware, software and scentware, the platform “offers a safe, effective way to layer real-world scent into VR,” allowing content developers to create “realistic, truly immersive experiences for greater impact and outcomes” in healthcare, training and other areas.
Varjo partnered with MeetinVR to deliver photorealistic virtual collaboration for the most demanding enterprise applications in training, simulation and engineering. Through the partnership, MeetinVR will release a dedicated version of its app supporting all Varjo headsets. As part of a new bundle offer, buyers of any Varjo headset will receive six months of MeetinVR for free for five users.
The XR consulting firm introduced a web-based, no-code/low-code 3D/XR creation tool for business and education. The MetaVRse Engine is a universal 3D/XR design and development tool for easily creating immersive 3D and XR experiences and deploying across multiple operating systems, browsers and device.
Iristick and XMReality have partnered to offer XMReality Remote Guidance together with Iristick’s smart glasses, allowing field service engineers and operators to get remote assistance. “We expect that, especially in Covid and post-Covid times, the combination…will help many of our customers keep up their high standards of field service, anywhere in the world,” said Iristick CEO.
